Bionomia: Biomimicry for a Sustainable Future

On December 02-04, 2026, the Centro Internacional das Artes José de Guimarães will host the first edition of the Bionomia Conference – an international event dedicated to exploring how nature can inspire regenerative and sustainable solutions.

Across two days of talks, presentations, and discussions, the conference will bring together voices from science, design, and innovation to explore the potential of biomimicry, biodesign, and bioinspiration in shaping a more balanced future.

The International Centre for the Arts José de Guimarães (CIAJG), located in Guimarães, Portugal, will host the Bionomia Conference 2025. Renowned for its commitment to contemporary art, anthropology, and the dialogue between diverse world cultures, CIAJG offers a unique setting that seamlessly blends avant-garde creative thought with the deep historical heritage of the city.

Bionomia Talks

From Talks to Conference

In 2024, we hosted the first Bionomia Talks — a moment to connect ideas and people around nature-inspired innovation.

Now, we’re taking a step further with the launch of the Bionomia Conference: a new technical-scientific event built on that same spirit, with a broader scope and deeper conversations.

Facts about the Bionomia identity:

The Bionomia logo is inspired by the eyes of the jumping spider – the only spider species known to see in color. With its multiple eyes, the logo represents the idea of keen observation and the search for new solutions in nature.

The official color of Bionomia, pink, symbolizes biodiversity. This color was created in support of the United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity and is inspired by a 1.1 million-year-old mineral pigment discovered in the Sahara. It reflects our commitment to nature and bioinspiration.

Adrian’s entrepreneurial journey began over 15 years ago as a founder, where he honed his skills in building and scaling businesses.
